Kent E. Agness
Trustee
Kent E. Agness, appointed trustee in December 2011, served as legal counsel to Central Newspapers, Inc. for over 20 years. In the mid-1990s, he assisted Frank Russell, the Trust’s founding chairman, in creating the legal structure of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. Until his retirement in 2005, Agness served as the Trust’s legal counsel from the Indianapolis-based Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he was a partner and primarily practiced in the firm’s corporate department. Agness is a lifelong Indiana resident. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his law degree from the University of Virginia. Agness has been a member of several nonprofit boards and foundations, including serving as chairman of the board of the Indiana State Museum Foundation.
