Incoming President and CEO

In 2026, Jeff Small was named the Trust’s incoming president and CEO. Starting in 2027, Small will spearhead initiatives in service to the mission and oversee the strategic direction of the Trust in Arizona and Indiana.

Small has devoted his entire career to the nonprofit and philanthropic sector. With more than 12 years at the Trust, most recently as the vice president of programs, he oversaw the Trust’s grantmaking and program staff in Phoenix and Indianapolis. Prior to joining the Trust, he worked with nonprofit groups in Indianapolis for more than a decade. Small served as a writer and project manager at Johnson, Grossnickle and Associates, a philanthropic consulting firm in Indianapolis specializing in strategic planning, development planning, feasibility studies and capital campaign counsel. Prior to his time with JGA, he held positions in the research department of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, and program development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis.

He has also served on the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance board of directors since 2019 and completed a two-year term as the board chair in 2025. Additionally, he served on the alumni board for the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Small graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Indiana University Indianapolis with a master’s degree in philanthropic studies. He has also completed a certification program from the Center for High Impact Philanthropy. Small lives in Indianapolis with his family and splits his time between Indianapolis and Phoenix.
