Carol Peden Schilling

Chair

Carol Peden Schilling is Nina Mason Pulliam’s niece and treasures her deep friendship and lifelong companionship with her kinswoman. She was one of the three founding trustees when the Trust began operations in 1998. She was born and raised near Bloomington, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana University cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. After working as an editor at the Indiana University Press, she moved to Tucson, Arizona, to study anthropology at the University of Arizona, later moving to Phoenix as a staff writer and editor for The Phoenix Gazette. Schilling has two adult children and now makes her home in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband Randy. She has been an active volunteer and philanthropist in the nonprofit community for 30 years, most notably with the Desert Botanical Garden and Ballet Arizona. Carol shares her Aunt Nina’s loves of travel, the Southwest, animals, hiking, music, gardening, writing and reading. Her memories of Aunt Nina continue to guide the Trust’s core values.
