In early August, the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust named Kristina Perez as the new Director of Communications and External Relations.

“I’m excited and honored to begin this new chapter furthering the Trust’s mission of helping people in need, protecting animals and nature, and enriching community life,” said Perez.

Perez joined the team after Teri Fraley Walker, formerly the Manager of Communications and External Relations, left the organization after five years to move back to her family farm in Holbrook in northern Arizona.

With more than 18 years of experience in journalism, public relations, and marketing in both the private and public sectors, Perez comes to the Trust with an extensive track record in communications. Most recently, Perez led the media relations, crisis communication, advertising strategy and creative development for the City of Peoria, Arizona, including earning the city’s first and only Emmy. Additionally, she taught digital media at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her photography has been featured in a variety of online and printed publications for the Arizona Office of Tourism, Visit Phoenix, Arizona State Parks and more. In 2021, Perez was named one of the most influential people in Peoria by The Upper Westsider.

Perez has a professional certificate of marketing from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a Minor in Community Health Education from Northern Arizona University. Perez lives in Peoria, Arizona with her husband, Blake, and two children, Porter and Preston. She will be based in the Trust’s Phoenix office and travel to Indianapolis on a regular basis.
