Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust promotes Bob Berger (Indiana)

Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust Announces Major Staff Promotion

Indianapolis, Ind. – (July 2, 2015) The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust has announced the promotion of Robert Berger to vice president of programs for Phoenix and Indianapolis. In the newly created position, Berger will direct day-to-day grant operations and assist in the development of strategic direction for the Trust’s grant investments, while spending time in both communities.

“Bob is a master at the art and science of grantmaking, understands the pivotal role philanthropy plays in improving society and embraces change with a ‘can-do’ attitude,” said Gene D’Adamo, president and CEO of the Trust. “These skills, combined with his rich and varied previous experience, make him an ideal leader for us. Indiana program directors Lee Ann Hoy and David Hillman, and Program Officer Jeff Small, will continue to be the faces of the Trust in the local community and work with Bob on strategy.”

Recognized as an environmental specialist with a diverse background in public and private business, Berger joined the Trust in 2000 working closely with organizations on conservation and animal welfare issues. Modeled after the very successful Summer Youth Program Fund collaboration in Marion County, Bob founded and oversaw the program in Arizona.

“The Trust is very intentional in directing our resources to maximize effectiveness in the communities we serve,” Berger said. “I am honored to have been part of this process for the past 15 years and look forward to being part of the leadership that continues to help meet the challenges facing our communities. Fortunately, I have been coming to Indianapolis for years and have experienced first-hand the famed Hoosier hospitality. I am eager to learn more about the community and the nonprofit agencies that play such a critical role in the quality of life.”

In making the announcement, D’Adamo also noted that Jeff Small has been promoted to program officer for the Indianapolis office. Jeff, a former intern, has been with the Trust 11 months.

The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust seeks to help people in need, especially women, children and families; to protect animals and nature; and to enrich community life primarily in metropolitan Phoenix and Indianapolis. The Trust has awarded more than $242 million in grants and student scholarships since its inception in 1997.
