White River Festival

The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust is the proud sponsor of the 2012 White River Festival, a one-month celebration of the Upper White River and its tributaries, coordinated by the Upper White River Watershed Alliance (UWRWA) in partnership with more than a dozen conservation-minded organizations, including community arts and education institutions.

The festival features more than two dozen events for people of all ages throughout the month of September. It kicks off on September 1 with a Community Fun Day at the Indiana State Museum (behind the Museum on the Ball Family Terrace, by the canal) in White River State Park featuring community art projects, activity tent and games.

Festival events fall into six river-related categories: Art, Service, Wildlife, Recreation, Entertainment, and Training and Learning.

The Festival's partners invite Hoosiers to attend the various events to celebrate and learn more about the White River and the issues affecting it, including Indiana's current widespread drought. The White River and its tributaries provide essential drinking water supplies, access to water for industry, habitat for wildlife, inspiration for art and recreational opportunities.

The UWRWA is a 16-county consortium of local governments, industry, utilities, universities, agriculture and the general public that exists to improve and protect water quality on the Upper White River watershed.
