Greetings.
As tax day had us all reflecting on 2006 from a personal level,
I am happy to announce the posting of the Trust's 2006 annual report
on its web site.
It was a positive year for the Trust with $13,059,588 in grants
awarded to 199 organizations of which 42 were new to the Trust grantee
family. In total, the Trust paid out $14,055,928 in new commitments
and in payments on previous years' pledges.
In 2006, the Trust also extended the life of its Nina Scholars program
from six to ten years through 2010, expanded the overall cohort
size from 40 to 42 Scholars and increased the annual living stipend
to $2,750 for each new and returning Scholar. Since the program
began in 2001, it has transformed the dream of a college education
into a reality for 240 men and women.
The Trust ended the year with $374 million in assets, up for the
third straight year, boding well for 2007's increased grantmaking
capacity of $15 million for nonprofit organizations in Indianapolis
and Phoenix.
We invite your questions and comments.
